Ben Shapiro has been under fire lately. A few weeks ago prosecutors found that the Quebec City shooter who killed six muslims intensively studied Shapiro’s videos and Twitter content. Shapiro insisted he was innocent despite the courts contrary opinion. Now it has come to light that Shapiro is pushing a questionable cryptocurrency IRA to his podcast listeners.

The IRA is run by Birch Gold, who’s CEO Laith Alsarraf is most well known for managing a network of fetish porn websites. Many consider Birch Gold to be a scam, conning elderly men and women into spending their life savings on gold and other precious metals.

One Birch Gold investor shed some light on how the scam works, “In a nutshell, their scam is to fast talk people into buying collectible coins or proofs for their IRA’s. They tack on a 30% or higher markup. If you put 100K of your IRA into gold with these scammers, they’ll take 30K of it.  How’s that for an investment? Take a pass on these guys. Scammers. And God knows how much they will buy it back for.”

Listeners of Shapiro’s podcast were horrified by his partnership with Birch Gold, “I couldn’t believe it, Ben seems so innocent. Never thought he’d scam me. And you said this Birch Gold guy was in the porn industry? Amateur stuff too? As much as I love Ben I’ll have to stop listening until he pulls them from his show.”

Other sources with knowledge of Shapiro noted, “This enrages me. Is Ben going to end up being a current-day Don Lapre? He was a pyramid scheme guy too, landed himself in the federal pen for 41 counts of conspiracy, money laundering and mail fraud. Ultimately Lapre killed himself serving the time. Hopefully Ben’s story doesn’t come to a similar ending, he still has time to change.”
